Frequency Codes & the Scalar Field
Specific frequencies are said to heal, balance or “reset” the body. This page explains each tradition honestly: where it came from, what it claims, and what the evidence says. You can listen to the tones and watch vibration make patterns.
The body’s own rhythms
Heartbeat
A typical adult resting heart rate is 60–100 beats per minute, about 1–1.7 Hz. Healthy hearts vary from beat to beat (HRV).
Breathing resonance
Around 6 breaths per minute (about 0.1 Hz) matches many adults’ cardiovascular resonance, which makes heart-rate swings as large as possible (Lehrer & Gevirtz, 2014).
Brain waves
Delta ~0.5–4 Hz · Theta ~4–8 · Alpha ~8–13 · Beta ~13–30 · Gamma ~30+ Hz. These are measured with EEG and reflect states like sleep, rest and focus.
Schumann resonance ≈ 7.83 Hz
The Earth–atmosphere cavity really does resonate near 7.83 Hz. Not supported by controlled studies The claim that this frequency heals the body hasn’t been demonstrated.
Cell voltage
Cells hold membrane voltages, and those patterns help guide development and repair (Michael Levin’s bioelectricity research).
40 Hz gamma
40 Hz light flicker reduced amyloid in Alzheimer’s model mice (Nature, 2016). Human studies are still in progress.
Where frequency medicine is real
Medicine uses waves every day. Each of these was developed and tested through controlled research, which is exactly what the unproven “codes” below are missing.
Ultrasound
High-frequency sound, millions of cycles per second, used to image babies, hearts and organs.
MRI
Radio-frequency pulses tuned to the resonant frequency of hydrogen nuclei in a strong magnet. That is literally nuclear magnetic resonance.
Lithotripsy
Focused shock waves break up kidney stones without surgery.
Tumor Treating Fields
200 kHz alternating fields added to chemotherapy extended median survival in glioblastoma (20.9 vs 16.0 months, JAMA 2017). It is an add-on to standard care, not a cure.
The Solfeggio frequencies
The modern Solfeggio set was introduced in 1999 by Joseph Puleo and Leonard Horowitz in Healing Codes for the Biological Apocalypse. They arrived at the numbers through numerology applied to Bible verse numbers (Numbers chapter 7). Three more tones were added later. These tones are not the medieval solfège of Guido d’Arezzo (ut–re–mi). The associations below are what promoters claim. A tiny 2018 study (9 people) reported lower cortisol after 528 Hz music than 440 Hz music. That is far too small to prove anything, and there is no evidence that any of these tones repairs DNA or cures disease.
| Tone | Popular claimed association | Evidence | Listen |
|---|---|---|---|
| 174 Hz | Pain relief and a sense of security | Not supported by controlled studies | |
| 285 Hz | Tissue and energy-field 'restoration' | Not supported by controlled studies | |
| 396 Hz | Release from guilt and fear | Not supported by controlled studies | |
| 417 Hz | Undoing negative situations, facilitating change | Not supported by controlled studies | |
| 528 Hz | 'Transformation and miracles', including the claim that it repairs DNA | Not supported by controlled studies | |
| 639 Hz | Harmony in relationships | Not supported by controlled studies | |
| 741 Hz | Expression, 'cleansing', intuition | Not supported by controlled studies | |
| 852 Hz | Spiritual order, intuition | Not supported by controlled studies | |
| 963 Hz | Connection with the divine | Not supported by controlled studies |
🔈 Tones play softly as pure sine waves and stop automatically after 20 seconds. Many people simply find steady tones calming, and enjoying them is fine, as long as they aren’t used in place of care.

Rife frequencies
Royal Raymond Rife (1888–1971) believed each disease-causing organism had a “mortal oscillatory rate” that could destroy it. Today, many lists of “Rife frequencies” circulate online for specific illnesses. The numbers vary between lists, and none has been validated in controlled clinical trials.
Not supported by controlled studies
Cancer Research UK states there is no reliable evidence that Rife machines work as a cancer treatment, and it warns that stopping proven treatment can cause harm. For this reason, Frequencyology does not publish disease-specific frequency lists.
See all historical claims in the research index →Hulda Clark’s zapper
Clark’s low-voltage “zapper” was said to kill parasites she believed caused cancer and most disease. No clinical trial supports it, and in 2003 the US Federal Trade Commission challenged the marketing claims for her devices. Some cancers do have known infectious contributors (HPV, hepatitis B and C, H. pylori), but no single parasite causes all disease.

432 Hz vs 440 Hz
The international standard tuning pitch (ISO 16) sets the A above middle C at 440 Hz. Some people prefer music tuned to A = 432 Hz and describe it as more “natural” or healing. Not supported by controlled studies There is no reliable evidence that 432 Hz tuning has special effects on the body, though personal preference in music is perfectly valid. Compare them yourself:

This simulates an idealized square Chladni plate. Grains are shaken wherever the plate moves and come to rest on the still nodal lines. Change the mode numbers to see a new pattern form. Established science
The scalar field and the “quantum realm”
“Scalar field” means one thing in physics and something very different in popular healing. Seeing them side by side keeps us honest and protects visitors from costly or even dangerous products.
In physics
- A field assigns a value to every point in space and time.
- A scalar field has only a size, no direction. A temperature map is a simple example. A vector field, like wind or magnetism, also has a direction.
- In quantum field theory, particles are ripples (excitations) of underlying fields.
- The Higgs field, whose particle was discovered at CERN in 2012, is the only known fundamental scalar field. It helps give particles mass. It is not a healing energy.
- Quantum biology (for example photosynthesis and bird navigation) is a genuine emerging field Emerging, but it doesn’t show that thoughts or devices heal organs through quantum effects.
In popular healing
- “Scalar energy” or “scalar waves” usually refers to an unseen life-force said to heal, protect or “recode” the body.
- The idea is often credited to readings of Tesla and to later writers such as Thomas Bearden. Physics does not recognize healing “scalar waves.”
- Products sold as “scalar” or “quantum” pendants, wands and stickers have no controlled evidence of benefit.
- Safety warning: in 2021 the Dutch nuclear safety authority (ANVS) found that 10 “quantum” and “negative ion” products, including a “Quantum Pendant”, contained radioactive materials, and told owners to stop wearing them.
How Frequencyology uses “the field”
When this site speaks of “the field” in a spiritual sense, it means the unseen order and presence of God that Scripture describes: “by him all things consist” (Colossians 1:17), and “the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear” (Hebrews 11:3). We hold that by faith. It is not a laboratory measurement, so it carries the faith label rather than the science label.
